How old do you think each character is?

SpongeBob is in his 20's
Patrick in his 30's
Sandy in her 30's
Squidward in his 40's
Mr. Krabs in her 60's
Mrs. Puff in her 60's
Plankton in his 60's (how he can be so cute IDK)
Gary I don't know


This is all evident in a few ways.

Patrick has said he's went to community college, so he has to be old enough, and SpongeBob is his 20's as shown in his license. I'm assuming Sandy is the same age as Patrick. Mr. Krabs is pretty old so he can get 60's. Squidward's still young but old so 40's is good. Mrs. Puff loves Krabs so 60's. Plankton and Krabs grew up together so 60's.
 
Spongebob - Early 20s
Patrick - Early 20s
Squidward - Late 30s
Sandy - Late 20s
Mr. Krabs - Early 70s
Gary - Late 0s
Plankton - Late 60s (how could such a cute thing be so old?)

Anyways, yeah, i've never though about this in my life :P
 
I think the characters ages are intentionally ambiguous and never specified, but this is how I imagine them relative to each other.

SpongeBob and Patrick - young.
Sandy - older.
Squidward - older still.
Mr. Krabs and Plankton - even older than that.

I just can't picture SpongeBob at any particular age, because it seems to be fluid depending on the situation. In the end, it really doesn't matter how old they are and I'm glad Hillenburg chose to leave it a mystery.
 
I can't agree with DMAP more. Spongebob seems to childish to be an adult, but he has a job, an he just doesn't seem like a teen.
 
I can't think about characters' ages for the reason DMAP stated. It makes my head spin to even try. XD I'm glad the ages were left ambiguous.
 
Spongebob - Most likely in his early 20s
Patrick - Same as Spongebob, considering they grew up together
Sandy - I would say in her 20s, but maybe a tad older than Spongebob and Patrick
Squidward - Most likely in his late 30s or early 40s. I'm surprised so many people draw Squidward so young (like in his 20s) with full blown hair. I always pictures him much older than that.
Mr. Krabs - probably either in his 50s or 60s. He acts like such a father figure (in some episodes) and he has gone through many experiences (including years at the navy), so yeah. Most likely his 50s or 60s!
Plankton - Same a Krabs since they grew up together since they were babies. Although Planky-poo's cuteness hasn't changed a bit! <3
Pearl - 16 (that age was revealed in Whale of a Birthday)
Mrs. Puff - Ehh, maybe in either her 40s or 50s.

Sandy- 31 years, 2 months, 30 days, 6 hours, 11 minutes, 44 seconds
Plankton- 66 years, 11 months, 22 days, 5 hours, 12 minutes, 2 seconds
Pearl- 16 years, 5 months, 28 days, 4 hours, 22 minutes, 13 seconds
Mrs. Puff- 43 years, 9 months, 29 days, 6 hours, 5 minutes, 4 seconds

In my world, the characters don't really have an age. But if they do, I'd probs say:

SpongeBob and Pat: mid-20's maybe
Squidward: Early-30's
Sandy: Late-20's (A bit older then Sponge and Pat)
Mr. Krabs and Plankton: Early-60's/Mid-60's

And Gary..... I really have no idea about him.

But like I said, they're ageless to me.

Seems to me that's all the clarification anybody should need.

And, I believe Mr. Krabs' license in "Sleepy Time" says he was born November 30, 1940 (or maybe '41 or '42... not quite sure), which would make him between 71-73 now, but about 60 when the episode was first produced, which I think is a good baseline for him.

Although it says '86 on the first license they used for him (making him 13 years old*) I still think it's debatable as to whether that's his official age, since people who work(ed) on the show repeatedly state that he doesn't have a specific age. If it was as simple as "born in 1986 and therefore ___ years old" you'd think they'd just say so.

The fact that a birthdate is only present on the "Sleepy Time"/"No Free Rides" license and absent from any future instances of his license being shown seems to suggest that they realized people were using that as an official date so omitted it.



*I know some people like to count from '86 to the current year but that makes zero sense to me because the characters don't age in the show, apart from the occasional birthday episode.
